Photographs that capture the moments that matter most.

Making portraits in and around the Virginia Peninsula

They say that time flies — and as a mother of three grown children, I can confirm that time flies by faster than you can imagine. One moment your kids are toddlers running around the house, and before you know it, they're in middle school, exploring their independence. Then suddenly, they're moving out of the house and into a college dorm.

While your memories of your children will stay with you forever, the details may fade over time. That's why family photographs are so important — they serve as a visual keepsake, reminding you of what truly matters. Years from now, you can look back at these photographs and vividly recall this wonderful chapter in your life.

So when is the best time to do family photographs? Honestly, right now. The present moment is precious and fleeting, and you don't want to miss the opportunity to document your family's precious memories.

THE PROCESS

The process is simple. We'll begin by getting to know each other and discussing your vision, ideas, and preferences for the photo session. Throughout the process, I'll be available to answer any questions you may have. The result will be a personalized session that captures the unique beauty and personality of your family.

Your photo session will be held at a location of your choosing and will last around 60-90 minutes. Sessions are scheduled for early morning or shortly before sunset. Rather than forcing stiff poses, I provide gentle guidance that allows your family's natural love and connection to shine through. My goal is to capture the genuine moments that truly reflect your family's personality and spirit.

Your photographs will be ready about two weeks after your session. While I do offer digital files, I strongly believe in the tangible beauty of printed photographs that can be cherished for generations. There's nothing quite like the experience of flipping through a heirloom album or holding a fine art print in your hands.

KIND WORDS

"Deb is an amazing photographer who captures priceless memories with her photographs! She's photographed my family four times now. After our family moved, I still booked her two more times. The photos are incredible and I often find that I can't pick which ones are my favorites."

“Deb is not just an incredible photographer, she is an incredible person. Deb has photographed our family numerous times with stunning results — and she took on the task of photographing our seven year old son as he battled cancer. She gave us a gift we will treasure forever.”

PRESERVE YOUR STORY

“Sometimes I wish I could rewind back the old days and press pause…just for a little while.”

With almost two decades of experience as a photographer and a mother of grown children, I know firsthand how important photographs can be in preserving memories over the years. For the past 18 years, I have made a personal commitment to invest in family photographs every year, and my annual family albums are among my most cherished possessions.

I understand that photo sessions can sometimes feel stressful, but I want to show you that they don't have to be. By taking the time to get to know you and your family, and collaborating with you to plan the session, I can help make the experience relaxed, fun, and uniquely yours.

I value your time and am committed to providing you with photographs that will be tangible reminders of the love, connection, and joy that you share as a family.

ABOUT ME

Photography has been my lifelong passion. Even while working as a registered nurse in the Air Force, I would often share my dream of one day becoming a photographer. A year after leaving the military, I began teaching myself photography and that dream finally came true. For the past 17 years, I have enjoyed being a portrait photographer, while also exploring the world of fine art photography.

Every family is unique, and I believe that every session should be too. I am passionate about photographing families in an authentic and heartfelt way that allows everyone to relax and enjoy our time together. I would be honored to discuss your ideas for your family's photo session.
