lensbaby love

April 8, 2011

i get asked a lot of questions about my shots like these…

the above images were all taken with the lensbaby composer and double glass optic.  i just can’t say enough regarding either product.

and lensbaby recently launched a couple new products, which i’m super stoked about –the sweet 35 optic and the composer pro.

i already have the sweet 35 optic (but haven’t had it very long at all). it’s awesome. it’s different. and i can’t wait to play with it more.  below are a few shots that i’ve taken over the past couple weeks.  i really haven’t shot a lot, period, over the past couple months…something i’m hoping to remedy soon. very, very soon!

and i should be getting my composer pro next week.

i
just
can’t
wait.

oh yea, one more thing…
it’s truly an honor to share that the photo below was selected for the packaging of the composer pro.  purchase a composer pro and you’ll find this image beautifully wrapped around the box.  thanks lensbaby!!

ETA:  one thing i forgot to mention is that with the sweet 35 optic, the aperture can easily be switched, from f/2.5 – f/22.  the double glass does not offer that.  but the two definitely have their own, unique look and feel (IMHO).  and i will always love my double glass.  which means i’m completely torn on which optic to purchase, if you’re purchasing a lensbaby for the first time.

on my wish list for sure…….it has been for a long time! these are all so beautiful! which one would you suggest to start with?

Deb April 8, 2011 at 4:31 pm

i would suggest the composer pro, although like i shared, i haven’t received mine yet. but i can only imagine amazing-ness. and which optic depends on which look you prefer. each offers their own unique look. a different feel. lensbaby has a gallery, where you can look through photos from lots of photographers, categorized by optic — http://www.lensbaby.com/gallery-photo.php

A lensbaby composer is next on my list. I love how soft and buttery these images are, simply beautiful! Definitely makes me want to purchase one sooner rather than later :D

wow, you now how to work the lensbaby! I love all of these and congrats to you for having one of your images chose for their packaging. I have the composer but I’ve not been able to nail it yet, I never seem to get the focus sharp.

I adore my lensbaby 2.0 (an old cheapie version). My most favorite image of my boys was taken with it. But you, Deb, have a way of working some sweet magic with yours… almost like they were taken from some parallel universe. I just drool over your lensbaby pics every time!

It is for sure on my wishlist!

Oh WOW Deb! I completely love your lensbaby shots, you rock a lensbaby like no other! I love my lensbaby composer too and very interested in the composer pro, especially if it has that fabulous image of yours on the box – so gorgeous!

I have seen the lensbaby around but I haven’t paid much attention to it. Now I want to try. I may even rent first. Your work is amazing.

Great series Deb, I really like them a lot-a hug congrats on your photo for their packaging. I use the composer and Plastic optic, but I can see, I have to order the PRO and and the Sweet 35 very soon!

Man I straight up love these!! The other day I rocked out with my lensbaby but straight up I feel like I’m awful with it! Maybe I just suck at manual focus or something! who knows but I’m going to stick with it!

I just got mine for Christmas and am now super jealous the pro is coming out! I’m going to have to kijiji mine and step up my game I think!!

Hi Deb! Thanks for reminding how wonderful the composer is!! What you do with it is magical. Which Composer do you have? I have the Lensbaby Composer 3G. Do I have the double glass optic? AND is it worth it to consider an upgrade to the Pro? Cheers! Keeping inspiring!!!!

Hi Deb!
Your lensbaby shots are incredible. I have a question…the lensbaby website says:

“Do NOT order the Double Glass Optic if you are also ordering a Composer, Control Freak or a Muse Double Glass. All three of these lenses come with a Double Glass Optic installed.”

So were the first several images posted taken w/ the composer and double glass optic that was already installed, or did you purchase the double glass optic separately?

Thanks for sharing your images!

Deb,

The second from the top photo (sea gulls in focus & child out) has to be one of my favorite photos online. Had to Pinterest it. Thanks for sharing.
