Neighborhood Torii Gate
I walk regularly in my neighborhood and with less than two months left, I'm all about documenting those things I never want to forget. This is one of them. I never really know what I'm going to happen upon as I take a narrow path between the concrete houses. This day, I happened upon a Torii gate, shrine and cemetery. Mind blown.
Handprints
Between the kids and the dog, this has become a never-ending battle that I'm pretty lazy about. Always messy handprints.
Saved (biggest) Worm (I've ever seen!)
I was sure it was poisonous; it was that big. But I was trumped by the family and Sky had to save it from future destruction. She said, "he's bleeding". As Skyler gently put you off to the side in the brush, we wished you well Mr. Worm.
5K Trek Behind Our House
We went on the most-awesome hike right behind our house. We could have gone for five miles, all the way to base but we brought Charley and wouldn't have been able to take the train and...well...8 KM would have been a bit much. But it was incredible. This is Steve showing Sky where Yokohama is. The view was incredible, not only here, but the entire trek.
Upside Down Memories
As a toddler and young child, she was upside down all.the.time. On the chair. On the couch. On her bed. On the stairs. The other day, she did this on my bed and I was so happy to have my camera nearby to capture the moment and memory.
Those Buckies
He was a thumb-sucker until age two an the dentist told him to stop, which he immediately did. But we have always called his two front (thumb-sucking-skewed) teeth his buckies. I know that before long, they will no longer be buckies and this will be a treasured photograph of Ryder.
Standard Evening
I haven't really enjoyed photographing in our house, due to how tiny it is, but I want to document the memories of this space that we have called home for the past 2-1/2 years. Hard to believe that our time is almost done here in Japan. Feeling overwhelmingly blessed.
Exploring a WWII Japanese Bunker
Friends invited us to their cabin in Tama Hills, Yokota. So cool to hike the area and stumble upon WWII Japanese munition bunkers. Pretty surreal, really.
Hello 2017!
