passion is energy. feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.
- oprah winfrey

so, i'll admit...i love reality TV. and i really love so you think you can dance. have you seen it? if not, DVR the next season. i watch these dancers, with such passion for what they do, and i get the chills. i could watch them dance over and over again. and sometimes i do. because feeling that way feels good. you can feel their passion...in the way they dance. in the way they talk about their dancing.

i want to photograph the way these people dance. and i want people to feel about my photography the way i feel when i watch these dancers dance.

photography is my passion.
photography is my dream.
photography excites me.
it excites me beyond words.

whatever your passion, go for it. what do you have to lose. life is too short and there's nothing better than feeling the power of what excites you!

my husband and I watch that show religiously; which means downloading it from the internet because we're in Japan. thank you for not giving away the winner in this post because we have the finale in hand but haven't watched it yet! (tonight!)

i couldn't agree more - these people LIVE to dance, and that show is the best of all reality shows in my opinion. it makes me want to dance. (not just because they have the best bodies in the universe. ok, maybe.)

i watch the routines over and over, and i would say with confidence that this was the best season ever of sytycd! for the first time, from about the top 6 - i'd be ok if any one of those people won.

Woman, I tell you .. you have no idea how similar we are sometimes, LOL!! Seriously ask Andrea, I am constantly sending her you tube videos of dances from that show. I get the prickliest goosebumps from some of those contemporary pieces. I want to create and tap into that feeling I get when I see such beauty and passion.

I totally, incredibly, 100% understand that feeling.

    Hugs,
    Ashley ~

i found myself smiling with tears in my eyes week after week watching those dancers.. and like you said, just by watching i was feeling their passion. as a gymnast in my 'first' life i completely relate to that intense passion for something physical and demanding.

and as a photographer, i completely relate to your desire to bring that level of passion to your work. thank you for sharing your thoughts and your always-inspiring photographs. i think you are succeeding in your pursuit. :)

I could not agree more with your statements in this post. I love seeing someone who has passion for their craft, whether it be singing or dancing or acting or an athlete or photography. There is an electricity around them that sets them apart from others who do not have the same fire lit inside them. Truly inspiring to us all to press on despite challenges and obstacles in our path!

How do you respond to people in your life who don't understand or support your passion for photography? The skeptics, we'll call them?
